We are Paul and Amanda Carroll, the husband-and-wife owners of Temple Croft Bed and Breakfast, Alston, Cumbria. Our website address is https://www.temple-croft.co.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and preserving the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what happens to any personal data you provide to us or we collect from you while you visit our site. Please read this Privacy Policy in conjunction with our Terms and Conditions.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Booking information

When you make a booking with us, we collect the name, the home address, email address and telephone number of the guest making the booking. We also collect a debit or credit card number to take a 30 per cent deposit payment to secure the booking.

We use your home address as part of the card payment processing to validate the card. We will use your email address to send you booking confirmation and other information, such as more details on how to find us, things you might find useful for your stay, etc.

We will not use your telephone number, unless in an emergency and/or we have been unable to contact you via email.

Our email distribution list is managed by a secure third party, Mailchimp. If you choose to subscribe, you may change your preferences or unsubscribe via Mailchimp at any time.

We are required by law to collect the following information on all our guests. We do this by asking you to complete a registration form on arrival.

For Commonwealth guests:

  • Name and nationality

For non-Commonwealth guests:

  • Name, nationality, passport number, address of next destination
We will keep these forms securely in a locked filing cabinet and destroy them 12 months after your stay.

Online payments

Any card payments made online to Temple Croft B&B are processed by the Stripe payment processor. Stripe has reached level one PCI compliance, which is the most stringent level of security, ensuring that any payments made will be subject to the highest level of security.

Stripe encrypts any sensitive information to ensure that no party will be able to view any of your private information. Any information you use to make a payment will be used strictly for that payment alone, and no information will be saved unless this has been explicitly agreed beforehand.
