ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS

How far is the B&B from town?
Temple Croft lies right at the heart of lovely Alston, less than a three-minute walk from all amenities, including pubs, cafes, gift shops, grocery stores, chemist, petrol stations, etc.
Do we need a car to get around?
WIth public transport either irregular at best (buses) or too far away (trains), a car really is essential. . . unless, of course, you’re on a walking or cycling adventure, or happy to just relax and pootle about in and around the town. Otherwise, it’s about a 50-minute drive to Carlisle; 35 mins to Hexham or Penrith; and 30 mins to Haltwhistle.
What is there to do in and around Alston?
Where to start? How about cycling, walking, fishing and a whole variety of country pursuits, motorcycling (on and offroad), going underground in a Victorian lead mine, exploring Roman British history, stargazing in a Dark Sky, and generally spending quality time in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?
Can I hire a helicopter to London?
Yes, a day return for two is around £10-12k.
